GILLETTE, Wyo.— Two major eastbound roadways leaving Gillette are currently closed due to winter weather conditions, according to the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT).
Per the latest WYDOT update on April 12, both East Interstate 90 and Highway 14-16 towards Recluse are currently closed due to winter weather conditions, per WYDOT, which adds that both roadways are estimated to re-open between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. tonight.,
North Highway 59 to the Montana border is currently open, though WYDOT advises travelers to exercise caution with wet, slick, and slushy roadways accompanied by blowing snow and reduced visibility impacting the area.
Caution is also advised for westbound I-90 to Rozet, Highway 50 south to Savageton, and Highway 59 to Wright, all of which are open as of 4:20 p.m. on April 12.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Rapid City, South Dakota, has issued a winter weather advisory for northeastern Wyoming and advises current conditions are likely to continue through tomorrow, April 13.
Today and tonight, an additional two inches of accumulation is possible with the snow tapering off on Wednesday, though strong winds will persist until April 14, per NWS.
