GILLETTE, Wyo.— An intoxicated woman was arrested yesterday after she reportedly fought with two teenagers who she almost struck with her vehicle while driving drunk, according to Gillette Police Sgt. Jay Johnson.

Officers responded to the area of Laramie Street and Brooks Avenue after two teenage males, 17 and 16, called to report that a 43-year-old female had assaulted them around 8:36 p.m. last night, according to Gillette Police Sgt. Jay Johnson.

They claimed the incident began after the woman nearly struck them with her vehicle while they were crossing the street and confronted them after one of the males yelled profanities at her, Johnson said.

The three of them then got into a verbal altercation, which turned physical when the teenagers told the female they were going to call the police. She allegedly attempted to take the 17-year-old male’s phone when he called 9-1-1 and shoved the 16-year-old male, per Johnson.

When officers arrived, they located the female hiding in a nearby yard and she allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, Johnson said.

A witness, a 66-year-old female passenger in the 43-year-old female’s vehicle, verified the males’ version of events, and the younger female was taken into custody, according to Johnson, who added that the female’s blood alcohol content at the jail was reportedly .122 percent.

The female was charged with DWUI, breach of peace, driving without a valid license, and interfering with an emergency call.
