No injuries were reported in a pair of residential fires that reportedly resulted in heavy damage to one home on Bertha Avenue and another on Sage Hill Road Saturday, according to the Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD).
Firefighters responded to the 4300 block of Bertha Avenue on Jan. 22 after the first fire was reported around 5:11 a.m., where they reportedly found a double-wide mobile home’s porch, bedroom, and living room heavily involved in fire and smoke, per a CCFD release.
Two occupants of the home were able to escape without injury, CCFD says, adding that the fire extended into the attic space and caused extensive heat, smoke, and fire damage throughout the home.
Firefighters were again dispatched to another residential fire approximately 14 hours later that was reported around 7:44 p.m. on Sage Hill Road, per the release.
Similarly, the home was found full of smoke and with extensive fire and heat damage throughout, CCFD says, adding that a water line had melted within the residence and was suppressing the fire prior to the department’s arrival and no injuries were reported.
The cause of both fires remains under investigation and the CCFD leadership did not respond to a request for additional comment by press time.
