C17 Crime Clips for Thursday, Jan. 13

Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Drugs, Jan. 12, Terrace Cir, CCSO

Deputies arrested a 33-year-old female on two active arrest warrants on Terrace Circle yesterday at 2:05 p.m., Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The female, during her arrest, allegedly admitted to having marijuana in her pants and deputies confiscated a misdemeanor amount. She was charged with her third possession of controlled substance charge.

Tobacco violation, Jan. 12, Gillette Ave, GPD

A 14-year-old female was cited for possession of tobacco after she was found to have a vaping device at Juvenile Probation around 3:55 p.m., according to GPD Lt. Brent Wasson.

DWUI, Jan. 12, 4-J Rd, GPD

Officers responded to the area of 4-J Road and 2nd Street for the report of a man smashing out windows on a black truck around 5:16 p.m. and, while on the way, came upon the suspect vehicle doing burnouts at 4-J and 9th, Wasson said. A traffic stop was attempted but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed with officers following it to Wagonhammer Lane, where it allegedly crashed into a 1998 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 60-year-old female. The male approached the female after exiting from his own vehicle, a 1997 Ford pickup, and was detained by officers, per Wasson, who said the suspect shows signs of being under the influence of a narcotic and was acting paranoid. They reportedly located a small amount of suspected methamphetamine in the Ford. The male had an active Park County warrant for failing to pay on controlled substance possession charges and was taken into custody. He was also charged with DWUI, eluding, possession of meth, and use of a controlled substance, per Wasson. No injuries were reported.

Harassing phone calls, Jan. 12, E. 5th St, GPD

Four residents- a 21-year-old female, two 22-year-old females, and a 22-year-old male- called the police yesterday at 7:48 p.m. to report receiving harassing messages from a 43-year-old female, Wasson said. The four of them had previously been friends with the 43-year-old female’s son. Officers instructed all parties to cease contact and no further action was taken.

DWUI, Jan. 13, Skyline Dr, GPD

Officers contacted a 35-year-old female at a gas station on Skyline Drive after reportedly observing her throw a lit cigarette out the window of a 2017 Ford around 2:21 a.m., Wasson said. She reportedly displayed several signs of intoxication and was requested to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which she ultimately failed and was taken into custody. She was charged with DWUI.

Alarm, Jan. 13, Lakeway Rd, GPD

After receiving an alarm alert at Powder River Pain Clinic on Lakeway Road at 3:24 a.m., officers reportedly found an open window and deployed a K9 to clear the building,  on th Wasson said. Nothing and no one was found in the building, and it is unknown if anyone entered. The investigation is ongoing.
