Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
DWUI, Nov. 29, Collins Rd, CCSO
A 34-year-old female was arrested Monday around 4 p.m. for driving while intoxicated after her vehicle was reported for erratic driving and swerving all over Collins Road, CCSO Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The female, when contacted by a deputy, denied drinking alcohol but reportedly admitted to consuming three capfuls of cough syrup. At the Campbell County Detention Center, the female was also charged with assault and battery after she reportedly spat at and fought with detention officers, Reynolds said.
Breach of peace, Nov. 29, Burma Ave, GPD
A 57-year-old male was reportedly arrested for interference and breach of peace at 10:53 a.m. after he was reported by hospital security for cursing and being confrontational, GPD Lt. Brent Wasson said. When officers arrived, the male was uncooperative and allegedly attempted to barricade himself in an occupied office. The male had been released from the Campbell County Detention Center hours before on the condition that he seek medical treatment for an ailment. He was taken back into custody.
Child neglect, Nov. 29, Hwy 14-16, GPD
Officers took a 4-month-old baby into protective custody and cited the 19-year-old mother for endangering children at 1:31 p.m. after reportedly determining that living conditions in a room at the Mustang Motel were not suitable for children, Wasson said. Officers, while conducting a welfare check, reportedly found trash, live insects, old food, and trash all about the room.
Domestic violence, Nov. 29, GPD
A 40-year-old male was arrested for allegedly slapping a 36-year-old female’s face during an argument around 8:55 p.m., Wasson said. The female told officers that the male had been watching their children and that she had begun arguing with him when she arrived home. During the argument, the male reportedly struck her with an open hand across the right side of her face. Officers found injuries consistent with the female’s statement and, after receiving similar information from one of the children, arrested the male for domestic violence, per Wasson.
Theft, Nov. 29, Boxelder Rd, CCSO
A 70-year-old male came to the sheriff’s office yesterday evening around 11:30 p.m. to report someone had stolen two custom-made knives, valued at $1,000, as well as several firearms, Reynolds said. The investigation is currently underway, and the male will be providing deputies with a detailed list of the missing items.
