Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
Drugs, Nov. 22, Skyline Dr, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 44-year-old female for possession of marijuana after a K9 reportedly indicated on a U-Haul truck parked at the Tower West Lodge yesterday around 6:50 a.m., Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. The cargo section of the vehicle was reportedly empty, but the marijuana had been stashed behind the passenger seat. The investigation is ongoing.
Drugs, Nov. 22, E. 9th St, GPD
Officers confiscated 3.8 grams of methamphetamine and 24 grams of THC edibles from a residence on E. 9th Street after a 46-year-old female called to report finding the drugs around 7:17 a.m., GPD Lt. Brent Wasson said. The female said that she was at her estranged husband’s house to take care of their children while he is in the hospital. As of Nov. 23, the investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been filed.
Theft, Nov. 22, Saunders Blvd, GPD
A 17-year-old male called the police yesterday at 8:32 a.m. to report two magnetic bumper stickers had been stolen from his 1997 Ford pickup, Wasson said. A description of the stickers was not included in the report released by GPD, but they were valued at $15 each. The investigation is ongoing.
Hit and run, Nov. 22, Camel Dr, GPD
Officers cited a 61-year-old male for hit and run after he reportedly struck a 2012 Ford pickup with his 2015 Toyota in the Smith’s Food and Drug around 12 p.m., Wasson said. The impact broke the Ford’s license plate and bracket, but the 61-year-old male left the area. He was later contacted at his residence where he reportedly admitted to striking the other vehicle. He said that he left the scene because the parking lot was busy, per Wasson.
Shoplifting, Nov. 22, E. Lakeway Rd, GPD
A 31-year-old male reportedly fled from Menard’s in a vehicle after he stole a magnet, multi-tool, and a knife yesterday, Wasson said. The male was located as he was pulling into his residence on College Park Circle, where he allegedly refused to stop and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, the male was taken into custody. He displayed signs of recent drug use and a glass pipe was reportedly found in his pocket. Officers cited him with theft, driving under suspension, interference, and use of a controlled substance.
Drugs, Nov. 22, Hunt Ave, GPD
Officers cited a 29-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance after they reportedly uncovered 37.9 grams of suspected spice and 10.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, Wasson said. The drugs were located at a residence on Hunt Avenue, where officers had been called to assist the Campbell County Probation and Parole Office. The suspected spice will be sent to the state lab for analysis.
