Bolts, Camels and Panthers tune up for football playoffs

Campbell Campbell, Thunder Basin and Wright high school football teams are battling for playoff position in the regular-season finale Friday night (County 17 graphic)

There is only one thing certain going into the regular-season high school football finales Friday night – all three local teams are headed to the state playoffs.
The only matter of business remaining for Campbell County, Thunder Basin and Wright is to figure out who they will play in the first round of the postseason in a week. All that will be decided Friday as all three teams face tough opponents to wrap up the schedule and determine playoff seedings.
The only team with a shot to host a first-round playoff game is Thunder Basin. This Friday will be unique for 4A as the top four teams all play each other which could clear things up or create ties and tiebreakers.

The Bolts lost their chance to win the conference title last week when they were doubled up by Natrona County, but they can control their playoff path. All they have to do is upset first-place Sheridan this week in Gillette and force a tie for second place with the Broncs along with the loser of the Rock Springs/Cheyenne East game.

If TBHS losses to the Broncs, it will likely be the fifth seed and hit the road for the first round of the playoffs for a rematch with Natrona County.
For the Camels, they are marching back into the state playoffs with its young and inspired team. They are tied for the sixth and seventh seeds with Kelly Walsh, who they coincidently face this Friday in Casper.

Speaking of ties, Wright is also tied with Southeast for the third and fourth seeds in the 1A 9-Man conference. Just as interesting, those two teams battle Friday night at SHS to decide the location and opponent for both teams heading into the playoffs.
