Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
DUI, Sept. 11, Wright Blvd, CCSO
A 62-year-old male was arrested at 1:04 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated after he reportedly crashed into a vehicle, nearly hit another, and narrowly avoided crashing into Don’s Supermarket in Wright, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds. The male, driving a 2005 Dodge Ram, reportedly crashed into a tree before hitting a Toyota Avalon in the parking lot. The impact caused over $1,000 in damage to both vehicles. The male had two warrants- one for failing to appear and the other for bond revocation. He was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.
Domestic violence, Sept. 11, Ledoux Ave, GPD
At 2:29 p.m., a 33-year-old male reported that his ex-girlfriend, 33, came into his residence and yelled at him before throwing a tape dispenser at him, GPD Lt. Brent Wasson said. Officers contacted the female, who had been arrested elsewhere on a separate narcotics offense, and cited her for trespassing and domestic battery.
Drugs, Sept. 11, Dogwood Ave, GPD
Officers arrested a 24-year-old male for possession of methamphetamine after a neighbor reported he was acting strange around 2:46 p.m., Wasson said, adding that the male had allegedly been waving a knife around while dressed only in his underwear. The male granted officers consent to search his residence where they located around one gram of suspected methamphetamine, several syringes, and plastic baggies with residue. A police K9 indicated on a safe, which was seized and will be searched later, per Wasson.
Intoxication, Sept. 12, S. Douglas Hwy, GPD
Officers responded to Goodtimes Lounge after a 56-year-old male reported that bar staff stole his money at 12:34 a.m., Wasson said. The investigation proved the male’s statement false and, given the fact that the male was disturbing other patrons and was highly intoxicated, officers arrested him for intoxication.
DUI, Sept. 12, Warlow Dr, GPD
Officers stopped to check on the female driver of a vehicle they observed pull into the parking lot of McManamen Park at 2:35 a.m., Wasson said. The female was obviously intoxicated and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was arrested for DUI.
Battery, Sept. 12, Echeta Rd, GPD
A 16-year-old female was ticketed for battery after she reportedly came home on and fought with her 15-year-old sister at 2:46 a.m. on Echeta Road, Wasson said. The 15-year-old female had a one-inch contusion on her head from the altercation and their mother was contacted.
DUI, Sept. 12, S. Hwy 59, CCSO
Deputies arrested a 51-year-old male for DUI after a 52-year-old female reported him as a potential drunk driver at 3:21 a.m. Sunday, Reynolds said. The male was found sleeping in a red 2018 Dodge pickup and agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he ultimately failed and was taken into custody. At the Campbell County Detention Center, the male reportedly provided a PBT of .139 percent, per Reynolds.
DUI, Sept. 12, W. I-90, CCSO
Deputies and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers responded to westbound I-90 after a resident reported a white Ford for driving erratically near milepost 119, Reynolds said. The vehicle was located at milepost 124 around 5:59 a.m. and was stopped for failing to maintain a single lane of travel. The driver, a 32-year-old male, agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. He provided a PBT of .170 percent, Reynolds said.
DUI, Sept. 12, S. Hwy 59, CCSO
A 53-year-old male was arrested for driving while intoxicated after deputies contacted him on S. Hwy 59 around 7:37 p.m., Reynolds said. A landowner reported the male, along with another male passenger, for trespassing and followed them after they took off in a green 1997 Chevrolet pickup. The vehicle was stopped at milepost 107 by deputies, Reynolds said. Empty beer cans were observed in the vehicle and the 53-year-old male smelled strongly of alcohol. He performed standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI and driving without a valid license.
Domestic battery, Sept. 12, Redwood St, GPD
Officers responded to Redwood Street at 9:12 p.m. yesterday after a 60-year-old female reported a 4-year-old female neighbor ran to her home and said her father was choking her mother, Wasson said. A 28-year-old female said the 4-year-old’s father, a 33-year-old male, strangled her at her home. The assault stopped when the female bit the man and he left the area, per Wasson. The male was in the area and, after initially refusing to exit his vehicle, was taken into custody, He was charged with felony strangulation of a household member, unlawful contact, and interference.
