COVID-19 Update for Tuesday, Sept. 7

There have been 97 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Campbell County since Friday, including 56 new cases involving the Delta variant, the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) announced Tuesday.

The latest data, updated on Sept. 7, brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Campbell County to 5,899, with 288 active cases, 629 probable cases, and 5,550 recoveries, per WDH.

There have been three new COVID-19-related deaths reported in Campbell County since the previous update. An older adult Campbell County man and two older adult women died in August. All were hospitalized and had health conditions known to put patients at higher risk of severe illness, WDH says.

So far, 879 Wyoming residents have died of complications arising from COVID-19, 71 of which have been in Campbell County, per WDH.

Statewide, the total number of active lab-confirmed cases increased by more than a thousand to 64,550 since Sept. 3. There are currently 2,618 active cases, 13, 945 probable cases, and 61,191 recoveries, according to WDH.

As of Sept. 7, approximately 207,804 Wyoming residents, or 35.91 percent of the state’s population, were considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Approximately 68.2 percent of all Wyoming seniors over the age of 65, 44.6 percent of adults over the age of 18, and 20.3 percent of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 were considered fully vaccinated, per WDH.

Campbell County, per WDH data, continues to have the second-lowest vaccination rate in the state, behind Crook County, with only 20.5 percent of the entire population, roughly 9,500 residents, considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

There have been 191 new COVID-19 variant cases detected since Sept. 3, WDH says, increasing the number of variant cases confirmed to date to 2,729.

The Delta variant remains the prominent strain of all COVID-19 variants detected in Wyoming with 1,481 total cases confirmed as of Sept. 7, per WDH. In Campbell County, 167 delta variant cases have been detected thus far.
