There have been 97 new cases of COVID-19 identified in Campbell County since Aug. 30, including 53 new cases of the Delta variant, the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) announced Wednesday.
The latest data, updated on Sept. 1, brings the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Campbell County to 5,720 with 346 active cases, 617 probable cases, and 5,315 recoveries, per WDH.
There have been 23 new COVID-19-related deaths reported since Aug. 30, one of which was an adult Campbell County woman who was hospitalized in another state and had health conditions known to put patients at higher risk of serious illness.
So far, 68 Campbell County residents have died of complications arising from COVID-19. In August, two other Campbell County residents, both older adult women, also died, though only one of them was known to have health conditions known to put people at higher risk of severe illness.
Statewide, the total number of active lab-confirmed cases increased by 846 since Monday to 62,572. There are currently 3,083 active cases and 12,233 probable cases with 58,763 recoveries, per WDH.
As of Aug. 30, the most recent date the data was updated by WDH, approximately 205,268 Wyoming residents, or 35.37 percent of the state’s population, were considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Of that number, 62.7 percent were seniors over the age of 65, 44 percent were adults over the age of 18, and 17.9 percent were adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17.
Campbell County, per WDH data, continues to have the second-lowest vaccination rate in the state, behind Crook County, with only 19.97 percent of the entire population, roughly 9,248 residents, considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
There have been 214 new COVID-19 variant cases detected since Aug. 30, WDH says, 213 of which have been confirmed as the Delta Variant. So far, the WDH has reported 2,478 COVID-19 variant cases.
The Delta variant remains the prominent COVID-19 variant detected in Wyoming with a new total of 1,232 cases reported across the state. In Campbell County, 95 Delta variant cases have been detected thus far.
