Gillette hotel guests arrested for stolen car, drug possession

Two guests at a local hotel were arrested late last night after they were found in possession of a stolen dealership vehicle, methamphetamine, and marijuana, a Gillette police official said Wednesday.

The pair, a 23-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, were contacted after officers responded to the Alamo & Suits on East 2nd Street yesterday around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a stolen wallet report, Gillette Police Lt. Brent Wasson said July 14.

Hotel staff reportedly identified the man suspected of stealing the wallet as a guest staying in a first-floor room and initiated contact soon after.

The male and female consented to a search of their room, during which the wallet in question was recovered in addition to three grams of suspected crystal meth, less than half a gram of liquid meth, and 14 grams of marijuana, per Wasson.

The vehicle they drove to the hotel, a 2013 Audi, reportedly came back stolen from an Arapahoe County car dealership in Colorado, Wasson said, adding that the female admitted that the drugs belonged to her and claimed sole responsibility for the stolen car.

Officers charged her with two counts of felony possession of meth, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and possession of stolen property.

The male also admitted to knowing the vehicle was stolen and was charged with possession of stolen property and theft.
