Detectives are investigating a Saturday afternoon stabbing in Antelope Valley where one resident was hospitalized with knife wounds, local law enforcement officials said Monday.

The alleged incident occurred on Ptarmigan Avenue around 4:28 p.m. on June 19, according to Gillette Police Lt. Brent Wasson, who added that detectives were still trying to piece together what actually happened as of June 21.

So far, detectives are working on the basis that a 35-year-old male was transported to the Campbell County Health emergency room shortly after the alleged stabbing with a laceration to his upper chest and a puncture to his abdomen, Wasson said.

A 23-year-old male is also believed to be involved, potentially as the suspect, according to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds, who said Monday morning that deputies responded to assist with the call.

The 35-year-old, covered in blood, informed deputies that he had been stabbed by the 23-year-old, Reynolds said.

Wasson did not specify if any arrests had been made in connection with the incident, adding only that the investigation is ongoing.

“Both of these men are involved,” Wasson said. “But we’re still trying to figure out what happened.”

To help with the investigation, the Gillette Police Department is requesting that any witnesses to the alleged stabbing contact the department at (307) 682-5155 and ask to speak with Detective Julianne Witham.
