Future Wyoming Mustangs wide receiver seeks alternative, pet-friendly housing

Future Wyoming Mustangs wide receiver Tim Keith and his dog, Tyson, are looking for a host family in Gillette.

The Wyoming Mustangs have offered 28-year-old wide receiver Tim Keith a contract for the remainder of the 2021 season, which ends in June.

It’s a dream come true for Keith, a Manassas, Virginia, native who’s committed his entire life to the game, he told County 17 Monday. And playing for the Mustangs would get him one step closer to the big league, Keith said, adding that he hopes to one day play for the Dallas Cowboys.

There’s just one hang up.

Keith’s best friend Tyson, a 4-year-old Pitbull that’s been with Keith since he was just a pup, needs alternative housing accommodations from where the team is staying in the Gillette College dorms.

Although Tyson is an ADA-registered service dog and would be welcome in the local college housing, it’s just no place for a dog, Keith said, noting all the time he’ll be away at practice and games and on the road for away games.

What Keith and Tyson are looking for is a pet-friendly host family in Gillette who’d be willing to open their home (and backyard) to them for the next eight weeks or so, helping to care for Tyson while Keith is playing.

Their ideal host family would have a room for Keith in a pet-friendly home with experienced pet owners.

“I really want anyone who might consider putting us up to know that they would be getting a good bunch for sure,” Keith said, adding he’s a “clean guy” with no criminal record.

“Sports has helped me stay on the right path,” he said.

When asked if he thinks he’ll be comfortable living with complete strangers for a stint, Keith said, “I’m willing to do what I gotta do for this opportunity,” thanking anyone who’d even consider it.

Keith has never visited Wyoming but will be heading this way as early as this weekend.

“It’s cool to get out of your comfort zone,” he said. “We’ve all gotta come together, and I hear Gillette is a great community like that.”
