Here’s a summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Gillette Police Department (GPD).
Theft, April 28, Hwy 50, CCSO
At 5:45 p.m. yesterday, a 51-year-old female advised that someone stole her pink and black camouflaged Ruger LC9 9mm pistol, according to CCSO Lead Deputy Danny Preston. The female alleged that a 29-year-old female stole the firearm and traded it for drugs from a 38-year-old male. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Eluding, April 28, Garner Lake Rd, CCSO
A 37-year-old male was arrested around 11 p.m. last night after fleeing from deputies by driving his vehicle through a ditch and crashing through a fence, according to Preston. Deputies had initially contacted the male after receiving reports that he was slumped over in the driver’s seat of a 2006 Ford F-150. When they spoke to him, the male put his vehicle in drive and sped off, crashing through the fence three minutes later. The male was taken into custody without further incident and charged with both driving under the influence and eluding, Preston said.
Destruction of property, April 28, Hoback Ave, GPD
At 12 p.m., a 29-year-old female reported to police that someone broke the headlights and tail lights of her 2008 Chrysler sometime between 9 p.m. April 27 and 12 p.m. April 28, according to GPD Lt. Brent Wasson. As of April 29, there are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
Crash, April 28, Gillette Ave, GPD
Officers contacted an 87-year-old female in front of the courthouse yesterday around 12:45 p.m. after she reportedly crashed her white GMC truck into a raised walkway, Wasson said. The female had been trying to park her vehicle, and possibly accidentally pressed on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake. No citations were issued and the woman was treated and released by Emergency Medical Services for minor injuries.
Agency assist, April 28, Rogers Dr, GPD
Officers responded to a request for assistance from the Department of Family Services at 2:42 p.m., who had received a report regarding a recent eviction of a 26-year-old female from her hotel room at the Budget Inn for drugs, Wasson said. Hotel management reported finding syringes and a broken meth pipe in two rooms, one of which was rented out to the 26-year-old female. The investigation is currently ongoing, per Wasson.
Domestic violence, April 28, Stetson Dr, GPD
A 60-year-old male was arrested at 7:20 p.m. last night after reportedly grabbing his 43-year-old daughter and pushing her around during an argument on Stetson Drive, according to Wasson. The male was reportedly irate and threatened several individuals at the residence.
Burglary, April 28, Boxelder Rd, GPD
A 39-year-old male reported around 8:12 p.m. that someone broke into his storage unit on Boxelder Road and stole 13,500 rounds of ammunition, 25 AR-15 magazines, three ammunition containers, and a push lawnmower, Wasson said. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Intoxication, April 29, Garner Lake Rd, GPD
A 35-year-old male was arrested for intoxication after his 30-year-old ex-girlfriend reported he was throwing and breaking things in her front yard on Garner Lake Road around 12:30 a.m., Wasson said. The male was contacted while attempting to walk away from the area and was heavily intoxicated. Officers gave the man several opportunities to find a ride to a family member’s house, Wasson said, but the male refused and was ultimately arrested.
