In a two sentence press release issued at 2 p.m. today, the City of Gillette announced that City Utilities Director Mike Cole will serve as interim city administrator effective Feb. 26.

The Feb. 26 release states simply, “Patrick Davidson is no longer employed by the City of Gillette.”

Davidson served as city administrator starting in June of 2017 after then city administrator Carter Napier announced that he had accepted the city manager position in Casper (County 17, May 30, 2017).

Davidson continued in the position as interim city administrator until it was announced in September of 2017 that the interim city administrator position would be filled by Public Works Director Sawley Wilde (County 17, Sept. 20, 2017).

At the time, Davidson stated, “I have enjoyed my time as the interim city administrator. I appreciate the support of the council and employees. Because of the legal challenges on the horizon for the city, it is imperative that I devote my time to the City Attorney’s Office.”

It was then announced in November of 2017 that Davidson had been offered the position as city administrator permanently, a position he held until today (County 17, Nov. 22, 2017).

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
