A juvenile has been charged with felony aggravated assault and battery after reportedly choking another teen, Gillette police officials said Wednesday.

Gillette Police Department (GPD) Sgt. Dan Stroup said Tuesday that the victim, also a 15-year-old female, contacted police around 7 p.m. Jan. 11 to report she had just been attacked.

The victim informed officers that the assailant had choked her, restricting her breathing and causing injuries to her face and neck, Stroup said.

When officers arrived at the scene in the 100 block of E. Walnut Street, the juvenile suspect had already left.

The victim had red-blotched skin around her throat, bloodshot and watery eyes, in addition to her other injuries, according to Stroup.

The teenage suspect was taken into custody around 8 p.m. Tuesday  and arrested, according to police records. She has been charged with felony aggravated assault and battery.

She is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of battery.

The identities of both girls were not released due to their age per GPD policy.
