Speed too fast for conditions under investigation

A 60-year-old man died in one vehicle rollover caused by slick road conditions Friday, according to an announcement from the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).

The crash occurred at approximately 8 a.m. near milepost 201 on I-90 east of Sundance, the WHP says.

The man, identified as Beulah resident Eric Carbaugh, was driving a Ford F-250 west on I-90. Carbaugh lost control of his vehicle on ice and snow-covered roads, causing him to slide off the interstate into the median, where the vehicle overturned, per WPH.

Carbaugh was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. The WHP is investigating the incident and believes it could have been caused by Carbaugh traveling too fast for current road conditions, per the release.

This incident marks the third fatality on Wyoming roadways in 2021.
