Twenty-three more Wyoming residents have died of complications related to COVID-19, according to a Dec. 17 release from the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH), bringing the total number of statewide deaths to 351.

The residents were all adults or older adults who had been hospitalized or residents of long-term care facilities throughout Converse, Fremont, Goshen, Laramie, Natrona and Sheridan counties.

Natrona County is again the hardest hit with 74 deaths attributed to the virus, followed by 54 in Fremont County. As of Dec. 18, 22 Campbell County residents have died of complications attributed to COVID-19.

Deaths among Wyoming residents are determined based on official death certificate information, WDH says, adding that if a death certificate does not describe COVID-19 as either causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s count.

As of Friday morning, there have been 35,113 lab confirmed cases with an additional 5,480 probables since the onset of the pandemic. Of that total, 32,977 lab-confirmed cases and 4,976 probables have recovered, per WDH.

In Campbell County, there are currently 120 active lab-confirmed cases, 11 of which were reported in the last 24 hours. To date, there have been 3,205 lab-confirmed cases, 319 probables and 3,085 recoveries
