The Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD) has been staying busy, responding to 1,417 requests for service to date. In addition to responding to medical calls and motor vehicle accidents, dry conditions and weather have kept the department moving from one grass and timber fire to another.
Here’s a breakdown of the fire responses the department made on Thursday, Aug. 6:
- CCFD responded to a report of a grass fire near HWY 59 and Olmstead Road just before 6 p.m. Units arrived in the area and were unable to locate to the fire due to heavy rain.
- Units responded to N. HWY 59 near Horse Creek for a single tree on fire. Firefighters contained the lightning-caused fire to less than a half acre.
