The Campbell County Fire Department reported Monday morning that crews are working to contain a timber fire on Lawver Road, south of Gillette.
County 17 spoke with CCFD Battalion Chief Bryan Borgialli who stated that crews are expected to continue battling the blaze throughout the day Monday and possibly into Tuesday. Firefighters from Campbell and Weston counties, as well as crews from the BLM and the state of Wyoming, are currently on scene. A state helicopter is also being utilized for fire suppression.
The fire is affecting an area of approximately 190 acres of mixed-ownership timber. Borgialli couldn’t say how much of the fire is contained, as they are attempting to reach the backside of the blaze.
Per Borgialli, no homes or other structures are threatened and the fire is well off the road and shouldn’t affect travel through the area.
Still, the public is asked to use caution, as emergency vehicles will be in the area through at least Monday. If more information is made available, you will find it here on County 17.
