The Gillette Police Department is urging residents to exercise caution following a spate of vehicle thefts over the past two days.
A Gillette man reported his 2014 black and red Jeep Wrangler stolen from his residence in the 700 block of South Gurley Avenue Sunday evening. The 34-year-old Gillette man said it was parked at his home and was left unlocked. The pickup is a four-door cab with a cracked windshield and a flat spare tire mounted on the back.
In a separate incident Sunday, a 58-year-old Gillette woman reported that her white 2003 R Vision camper trailer was stolen, allegedly by a 58-year-old man who had tentatively arranged to purchase it from her following his residence at the VOA. The seller had initially allowed the man to put some of his belongings in the camper and park it in the 800 block of North Gurley Avenue with the agreement he would not take it until he had finished his time and paid. The estimated value of the camper is $8,000.
Monday evening, a Gillette woman reported that her 2012 Ford Focus had been taken from a residence in the 600 block of South Garner Lake Road. The woman said she’d left it running while she ran into a friend’s house for approximately 45 minutes at which point she went out to find the vehicle gone.
All three vehicles have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and are currently under investigation.
