Wayne Kenneth Hendrickson was born in Deadwood on October 5, 1932 to Arthur B. and Edith M. Hendrickson. He departed this world on May 23, 2020 at the Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center in Gillette, WY.
Wayne grew up in Belle Fource, South Dakota where he received his GED Degree in from the South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City. He later attended the Industrial Training Institute in Chicago, Illinois to earn a degree in Radio, Television, and Industrial Electronics.
Wayne served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1953-1955. After being honorably discharged, he returned to South Dakota where he began working for Butte County Highway Department. Later on, Wayne became employed by Utah-Idaho Sugar Company through its closing. From there, he dedicated 30 years to the American Collid Company at the Belle Fourche Plant before retiring in 1995.
Wayne married the love of his life Lorraine Kindfaster on Septermber 1, 1956 in Belle Fourche; the couple relocated to Spearfish where their two sons Bruce and Barry were born. Family was a top priority for Wayne as his satisfaction stemmed from time spent with Lorraine, their sons, daughters-in-law and especially, Wayne’s pride and joy, his grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife Lorraine of Gillette, WY, sons Bruce Hendrickson of Gillette, WY, and Barry Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren, Kimberly Hendrickson of Boise, ID, Janelle Andrade of Casper, WY, Alec Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO and Paul Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Art and Edith, brothers Don, Bud and Norm, sisters Dottie Vaughn and Betty Larson.
Wayne was laid to rest at Black Hills National Cemetery on May, 29, 2020. The family request that memorials be made in Wayne’s name to benefit The Legacy Living and Rehabilitation Center.
