The Campbell County School District (CCSD) will be hosting its graduation ceremonies on June 12-13, per a unanimous vote by the CCSD Board of Trustees April 28.
Seniors at Westwood High will formerly graduate on June 12, while students at Campbell County, Thunder Basin, and Wright Junior-Senior High will attend ceremonies on June 13.
The district is still formalizing where and when the ceremonies will be held but that information is expected to be announced shortly, according to CCSD Deputy Superintendent Kirby Eisenhauer.
Graduation was initially scheduled for June 26-27, but Eisenhauer said they moved the date up in response to multiple requests from students and parents.
“We got a lot of feedback from parents and many of them would have the graduation sooner rather than later,” Eisenhauer said. “We have quite a few seniors who are set to join the military on June 15, so it would be nice to accommodate them.”
In light of the struggles brought on by COVID-19 health guidelines that meant original May graduations had to be extended, parents of local seniors have also created a Facebook page, “Adopt a 2020 Gillette, Wright, Rozet and Moorcroft High School Senior.” According to the page, parents can post fun facts about their graduating seniors such as their school and hobbies. Then, the community can “adopt” a graduate and share letters of encouragement, gifts, cards or other items of support. Items can be sent or dropped off, according to the Facebook page.
