A 31-year-old man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit that began north of Wright on HWY 59 late Monday evening.
Darren Kendall allegedly stopped when a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over near mile post 84 for speeds in excess of 20 miles over the 70 mph limit, according to WHP Trooper Eli Ellis. As the trooper approached the vehicle, Kendall allegedly sped off, turning south onto Highlight Road where troopers lost him.
Campbell County Sheriff’s Office deputies joined WHP in the pursuit southbound on Highlight Road where they reportedly clocked Kendall at 102 mph in a 55 mph zone, CCSO Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said. Deputies used spike strips to stop the vehicle near the junction of Breene Road and HWY 59 where they removed the suspect from his car at gunpoint without further incident.
Kendall has been charged with speeding, eluding an officer, reckless driving, DWUI and possession of a controlled substance in both plant and powder form.
