Improper Lookout Leads to Four Big Rigs Sidelined
One semi-truck hit a parked semi causing a chain reaction yesterday evening at Flying J Travel Center.
At 7:22 p.m. Jan. 20, Gillette Police Department (GPD) received a report of a multiple semi-truck collision. A 48-year-old semi-truck driver misjudged and collided with a parked semi operated by a 68-year-old male. That rig was pushed into a third semi, operated by 30-year-old male, which then slid into a fourth semi, operated by a 51-year-old male, thus concluding the multiple vehicle accident, according to GPD Lt. Brent Wasson.
There were no injuries and damages are estimated at over $1,000 for all four big rigs, Wasson said, adding that the 48-year-old driver was cited for improper lookout.
