Weather, Road Conditions Contributing Factors in Second Fatal Crash this Year
Icy conditions are being blamed for the single vehicle rollover on 1-80 Saturday morning that claimed the life of a California man.
According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) press release, the driver, 55-year-old Brenda K. Wallace of Yermo, California, lost control of her 2007 Ford F-150 on the ice-covered interstate near mile marker 183, east of Wamsutter, causing the vehicle to exit off the right side and overturn.
Wallace was not injured, but her passenger, 60-year-old Henry J. House of Apple Valley, California, succumbed to injuries sustained at the scene of the crash.
Both were wearing seatbelts, the release states, and speed is also being investigated as a possible contributing factor. This is the second fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020, compared to 4 in 2019, 1 in 2018, and 1 in 2017 on the same date.
