Grief and Loss Support Group Offers Holiday Help

The holidays can be especially hard for anyone experiencing a loss, and the Wyoming Center for Clinical Excellence (WCCE) is stepping up to offer a free grief and loss support group for Campbell County residents, beginning next week.

“We believe in healing through connection,” WCCE Co-founder and therapist Andrea Robertson said. “When the connections are there, people together can heal, grieve, and share their stories.”

The goal of the group is not to get over or move past a loss, but to learn to reconnect to one’s self in a way that is meaningful and healthy as one carries the loss with them, according to WCCE Co-founder and therapist Brian Edwards.

“Most of the time, watching or supporting others is the most impactful way that our own healing takes place,” he added.

The grief and loss support group is for adults who are struggling with the loss of a child, spouse, parent, or other meaningful person in their lives, and will be facilitated by a trained therapist. The group will be free for 10 participants, and there are still a few spots open Robertson said.

People interested in the group are asked to participate in a short interview to ensure it fits their needs. The interviews were slated to wrap up today, but the clinic will potentially adjust that timeline to ensure anyone needing help gets the support they need.

The four-week group begins next Thursday, Dec. 19, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the WCCE office at 2001 W. Lakeway, Suite D.
