Icy Roads Lead to Multiple Crashes Friday

Freezing mist and icy roads made for hazardous travel conditions Friday as local law enforcement agencies scrambled to respond to 16 separate weather-related vehicle crashes.
Between approximately 10:50 a.m. and 3:50 p.m., the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to seven weather-related vehicle crashes throughout the county, while in town, the Gillette Police Department aided in an additional five more accidents throughout the day. Meanwhile, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers stayed busy Friday as well, attending to four more weather-related vehicle crashes on the surrounding roads and highways.
Both CCSO and GPD reported no weather-related crashes on Saturday, though, according to WHP Lieutenant Colton Lenz, the agency did assist six drivers with vehicles stuck on closed roads.
