A Colorado man is in custody following a high-speed chase this morning east of Cheyenne.
Nineteen-year-old Nathaniel J. Garcia of Aurora, Colorado, was arrested after troopers stopped his vehicle with spike strips on I-80, near milepost 367, after a two-state pursuit that initially began in Nebraska, according to a Dec. 2 press release.
Around 10:23 a.m. this morning, Garcia’s vehicle crossed into Wyoming, at which point the Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers took over the pursuit from Nebraska troopers. During the roughly 50 mile chase, the suspect’s vehicle reportedly reached speeds of over 100 mph the release states.
Just outside of Cheyenne, WHP troopers were able to successfully deploy spike strips. The driver was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at the Laramie County Detention Center.
Garcia’s vehicle was allegedly reported stolen out of Fort Collins, Colorado. He faces charges of eluding, driving under suspension, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and reckless driving.
