The Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD) responded to two residential structure fires over the weekend in Gillette and Wright.
Just after 8 a.m. on Friday, CCFD arrived at Pioneer Apartments in Gillette for a reported structure fire. Firefighters extinguished the small fire, which was isolated to the oven, according to a Nov. 23 press release.
Combustible items stored in the oven were said to have ignited when the oven was unintentionally turned on, the release said.
“There wasn’t any fire damage past the oven,” CCFD firefighter Wayce Waller said. “No occupants were displaced.”
Firefighters responded to a second report of a structure fire in Wright around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, where they were able to quickly contain the fire to a single bedroom, according to a Nov. 24 press release.
Prior to the fire department arriving, a family of four were able to safely exit the home, the release stated. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
“Red Cross was on scene,” Division Chief Dale Izatt said.
According to eyewitnesses in Wright, the house sustained no outside damages. The couple was airing it out, and hazmat was called in.
