A 15-year-old male was transported to Campbell County Health yesterday morning with minor injuries following a crash involving a piece of construction equipment.

Gillette Police Detective Sgt. Eric Dearcorn said the male was traveling east on Lakeway Road around 7:30 a.m. Oct. 15 when he rear-ended a Caterpillar roller-packer near Ledoux Avenue.

The 58-year-old female equipment operator estimated she was traveling around 10 mph at the time of the crash.

The teen told responding officers that he did not see the roller in front of him due to frost on his windshield and the sun in his eyes. He was cited for driving with an obstructed view.

The teen’s vehicle sustained extensive front end damage. Dearcorn said it’s unclear whether the roller was damaged.
