Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) K-9 Hunter retired from the force last month as the longest serving dog in the patrol.
Hunter was purchased for narcotics detection in 2010. Originally assigned to Sgt. Jeremy Beck, the dog most recently worked with trooper Scott Neilson, assigned to Division ‘D’ in Lyman.
In his career, Hunter was deployed 418 times resulting in the seizure of more than 1,069 pounds of marijuana, 136 grams of cocaine, 4.7 pounds of methamphetamine, 35.1 grams of heroin, and 1.3 pounds of other illegal narcotics, according to a release from the WHP. Hunter was also instrumental in the seizure of more than $382,000 in U.S. currency.
Hunter is currently spending his retirement with Neilson and his family.
