Pet of the Week: Ziva
This picture of Ziva, the black lab, may look a little like what happens when someone assembles their new dog kit all wrong. But, no need to worry. This is just her favorite way to catch some ZZZs.
Ziva, according to Carolyn Sears at Rest Easy My Friend Canine Rescue and Sanctuary, is not your breed typical Labrador retriever. Ziva is very laid back and downright mellow. At around 5-years-old, any typical lab would just barely be outgrowing their rambunctious puppy-like tendencies. However, this girl would rather stay on the porch than run with the big dogs.
Ziva came to the rescue around three weeks ago as the result of some changing dynamics in her family. She’s up-to-date on all her vaccinations and is a pretty healthy pup.
Like any diva, Ziva tends to have some anxiety which leads her to lick her legs. Having now become more of a habit, Ziva’s licking has resulting in some sores on her legs. Sears said she’s currently using medication to curb some of that obsessive licking, which costs around $10 a month.
This laid back diva gets along well with all the other dogs at the rescue.
“She’s a real gem.” said Sears, sharing that her favorite place to sleep is actually in bed with her humans, rather than a dog bed.
Sears said although there are no kids at the rescue, she feels she would do great around children. And her anxiety and licking issues would most likely subside once she’s found her forever home.
We all know how stressful moving can be.
If you’d like to meet Ziva, shoot the rescue a message to work out the details. Help this sweet girl find a stable, loving new home.
