Texas Escapee Arrested in Gillette
A 27-year-old man was arrested over the weekend on an outstanding U.S. Marshall’s warrant after he was reported as an escapee from a Dallas, Texas, Volunteers of America facility.
According to Detective Sgt. Eric Dearcorn, the Gillette Police Department received information that Will Wallowingbull was staying at an unspecified room at the Motel 6 Sunday just after 8:30 p.m.
The fugitive was later located in a room that was supposed to be vacant. Hotel staff told officers they did not know how Wallowingbull had gotten into the room.
He was arrested and transported to the Campbell County Detention Center without incident.
The original charge listed on the warrant was for homicide.
According to a K2 Radio news story, Wallowingbull pleaded guilty in July 2015 to accessory after the fact to first degree murder on the Wind River Indian Reservation. In June 2014, Wallowingbull and another person picked up Jared Dean Little Whiteman and took him to a trailer where three other defendants conspired to kill him.
K2 reported the victim was stabbed around 40 times and his throat was slashed.
