Caller Impersonates CCSO Deputy in Phone Scam
A Mills man received a confusing phone call yesterday that had more than one person scratching their heads.
According to Campbell County Sheriff Scott Matheny, the Mills man received a call from someone claiming to be CCSO investigator Kevin Jackson. The caller allegedly asked for Tristan, and explained he was contacting him because Tristan had reportedly sent sexually explicit photos of himself to an underaged female.
In a second phone call to the Mills resident, another man claimed to be the underage girl’s father, who demanded that he pay half of the cost to admit his daughter into Wyoming Behavioral Institute for psychiatric care. If he refused to pay, the alleged father threatened to press charges.
The recipient of the calls then called the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, who referred him to CCSO. Upon calling CCSO, he was told that there is no Kevin Jackson on staff and was redirected to Natrona County who are now investigating.
