Gillette Man Arrested After Stabbing Dog
A 45-year-old Gillette man faces animal cruelty charges after allegedly stabbing a 6-month-old German Shepard puppy multiple times.
According to Gillette Police Lt. Brent Wasson, officers responded to Red Hills Veterinary Hospital just after 7 p.m. July 10, where they met with two males, ages 19 and 17.
The 19-year-old reported receiving text messages from his father, the 45-year-old man, threatening to harm the dog while the two teens were at the skate park. Wasson said the father was allegedly angry over the dog defecating on the floor.
When they returned home to Vivian Street a short time later, the dog had been stabbed in the abdomen six times with a fixed-blade knife, which their father was allegedly holding in his hand.
The dog was treated for his injuries and released the same night, and according to officers is recovering.
The 45-year-old was contacted Thursday afternoon just after 3 p.m. walking on West 4-J Road. He was arrested on outstanding warrants and now also faces charges of animal cruelty.
