UPDATE: Due to weather, the Fourth of July fireworks have been postponed until July 12. All other activities will go on, as planned.
What’s better than a day off in the middle of the work week? When that day is also the 4th of July and is jam-packed with sunshine (hopefully) and fun all day long!
Fourth of July fun and festivities start bright and early tomorrow morning! Campbell County Parks and Recreation hosts the annual community 4th of July Event. This year’s theme is “Heroes On The Homefront, A Tribute To Our First Responders!”
All events are free with the exception of the Firecracker 4 Mile road race. Kick off the day with the volunteer pancake feed at the Fire Department, and then put on your running shoes and participate in the Firecracker 4 Mile.
New this year, Second Street will be closed down beginning at 9 a.m.
Here’s a look at the full schedule of events:
As always, The Rockpile Museum will be open tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is located right along the parade route. They invite everyone to visit the museum before, during, or after the Independence Day Parade. Find a spot out front of the museum during the parade as Museum Director Robert Henning announces the parade for Campbell County Parks and Recreation. As always, admission to the museum is free of charge.
If you’re looking to get out of town, head over to Devil’s Tower for the All American Corn Hole Tournament! Jam to some great music from DJ Lance Biddle, have a tasty sandwich from Hangry’s or a burger from the Campstool Cafe. The bar will open for business.
