Even though we call it summer vacation, it can end up being one of the busiest times of year. So, when we’re blessed with a day off work, we should take advantage and take the time to come together on the 4th of July. And, when it comes to celebrating the 4th, Campbell County knows how to do it right! Our Parks & Rec department has planned a whole day of fun for the entire family. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Heroes on the Homefront, A Tribute to Our First Responders!”
You’re going to need your energy to take on this day! Start with the Firefighter Pancake Feed at 106 Rohan Ave. Then, head over to Bicentennial Park to register for activities before you claim your place for the parade that begins at 10 a.m. on Second Street between Osborne Avenue and Burma. After the parade, head back to Bicentennial Park and bust out your best moves to the Live DJ’ing of KOOL 105.3.
Time to refuel! Grab a dog at the Free Hot Dog Feed and then get right back out into the action. Try your luck at Human Foosball, the Home Run Derby, Mud Volleyball, or the Strongman/Strongwoman Competition. Or, keep cool and watch the Firefighter Water Fights. There are more fun and games for the kids, too.
All events except the Firecracker 4 Mile are free.
A celebration like this wouldn’t be possible without the local difference – something that the Bank of Gillette is proud to be part of. We love our community and helping it grow. We hope to see you on the 4th, so we can celebrate our hometown, our state, and our nation together!
