WDE Seeks Public Input on Chapter 29
The public comment period on changes to the teacher evaluation process in the state of Wyoming is open through Aug. 3.
The changes to Chapter 29: Evaluation Systems for District and School Leaders and Teachers were prompted by the passage of House Enrolled Act 61 during the 2019 State Legislature. Click here to view a strike-through version of Chapter 29.
The legislation called for the implementation and administration of a comprehension and evaluation system. It was then up to the State Board of Education (SBE) and the Educator Certified Personnel Advisory Committee to put the plan into action.
The major revisions were in the section dealing with teacher evaluations. The requirement that evaluations use student growth data measures has been removed. And there’s also a change to the timeline by which districts submit evaluations to the SBE in order for them to assess whether a district’s current teacher evaluation system meets the new requirements.
