Fake Cash Found in Grass
Money may not grow on trees, but apparently it does hide in the grass.
A Gillette woman reportedly found nine counterfeit 100 dollar bills in the grass near the intersection of Garner Lake and Butler Spaeth roads, along with pieces of additional bills that appeared to have been run over by a mower.
The bills were obviously fake, according to Gillette Police Detective Sgt. Eric Dearcorn, and featured pink Chinese writing.
The female turned in the bills to First National Bank’s downtown branch, who then turned them over to law enforcement.
There have been several other recent reports of similar fake currency at various locations around Gillette.
Dearcorn said that one of the fake hundreds even reportedly came from a bank.
The case is still under investigation. However, it’s often difficult to pin down the source of the fraudulent money.
