The Gillette Police Department is investigating two separate cases of firearms being stolen from unlocked vehicles over the weekend. Both thefts were reported on Saturday.
According to Detective Sgt. Eric Dearcorn, the first was reported Saturday on Mercantile Drive. A Smith and Wesson 9 mm pistol was taken from an unsecured vehicle.
The second report was of a Smith and Wesson .45-caliber handgun taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 3700 block of Foothills Boulevard.
At this time there are no suspects in either theft. The investigation is ongoing.
