Pet of the Week: Judy
This week’s Red Hills Pet of the Week holds the title at the City of Gillette Animal Shelter that no animal really wants. Judy has been waiting at the shelter for a home longer than any other cat.
It’s hard to believe with a face like this.
Judy was originally picked up in Wright, where she stayed the requisite week, waiting for an owner to claim her. She was then transported to Gillette 33 days ago.
In spring, kittens are always the first to go. But, estimated at 6-years-old, Judy is still very playful, yet not as spastic as her younger counterparts.
As expected when entering any new place, Judy was pretty scared when she first arrived, but shelter staff said she warmed up quickly. And her favorite pastime these days is lounging on a blanket.
In typical cat fashion, Judy is all about attention on her terms. When I reached into the crate she was eager for me to scratch her head. Then her playful nature came out and she pulled my hand to her mouth with both paws for a quick nibble.
Although she still has all her claws, they didn’t come out during this interaction.
Even with her crate door wide open, Judy has no interest in making a break for it. She’s relaxed and pretty chill.
Help Judy kick the longest shelter cat moniker and find a “fur-ever” home. The shelter’s open Monday through Friday from 1 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All of the animals currently up for adoption at the shelter have profiles available at Petfinder.com.
