The Campbell County Chamber of Commerce launched their business symposium series in 2018, with “Lessons from Leaders” and “Innovate & Grow.” It’s part of the Chamber’s desire to help the local business community grow and develop itself, by providing opportunities to empower themselves to become more successful.
This year’s Lessons from Leaders will take place at the Lakeway Learning Center. It will be an all-day seminar with Timberline Training’s Matthew Melinkovich. An engineer by trade, with years of experience owning and managing businesses, Matt is a certified Innovation Growth Coach and Franklin Covey facilitator.
“I’ve always liked to do better, to help others,” Matt says. “Through small and simple things, great things come to pass. We all just have to do a little better each day, and then we can look back and see the progress that we’ve made.”
What he hopes to bring to Lessons from Leaders attendees on May 17 is a way for local businesses – both new and established – to improve their management skills and staff efficiency. Too often, Matt says, people only focus on the job at hand and what needs to be done, rather than also giving themselves time to become better leaders.
“It’s important to be able to have confidence in making the kinds of decisions you need to make. We could spend days studying leadership, but we’ll look at a few key points in how to develop yourself into becoming the kind of leader you want to be.”
The Lessons from Leaders program is valid for 6 PDCs for HRCI, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP. The cost to attend is $150. There is a morning and an afternoon session, with a break from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for attendees to go for lunch, check in at the office, or work on their own.
