Brig. Gen. Gregory C. Porter will accept command of the Wyoming National Guard Thursday, March 28, at 3:30 p.m., at the Red Lion Hotel & Conference Center, in Cheyenne.
Porter will assume the duties of the adjutant general from Maj. Gen. K. Luke Reiner.
Reiner has been appointed by Gov. Mark Gordon to lead the Wyoming Department of Transportation and will retire in a ceremony immediately following the change of command.
“This has been an amazing eight years marked by growth and change, I am proud to have served as Wyoming’s adjutant general,” Reiner said, in a press release. “I am confident the Wyoming Military Department will continue to make great strides under General Porter’s leadership.”
Porter will be pinned as a major general during the event. He most recently served as the director of the joint staff at the Joint Force Headquarters, in Cheyenne.
“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity and look forward to continuing to serve with that 1 percent of this nation who wears a combat uniform,” Porter said.
