The YES House’s Learn and Grow Program will benefit from a $2,500 STEM grant from Devon Energy. The grant was used to purchase five KIBO 21 Robot Kits to be used at the five Learn and Grow locations.
The kits are a screen–free and allow younger students to learn coding basics by creating and designing their own robot. The kits are specifically designed for children ages 4 to 7.
Yesterday, representatives from Devon met with some of the students to demonstrate just what the kits can do.
With KIBO, kids can see the circuitry and bring their ideas to life without using tablets, computers, or smartphones. Using wooden blocks to create a sequence, children think they’re playing while the robot moves guided by their instructions.
Learn and Grow is a fast-paced enrichment program for kids in kindergarten through sixth grades. The after-school and summer program helps kids with homework, reading, leadership, and physical activity.
