Dennis “Denny” Meloy Carson, 78, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, in Billings, Montana, of natural causes with his granddaughter, Sydney at his side.
Dennis was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on May 10, 1940, to Elmer Carson and Muriel Evelyn (Bergh) Carson. Dennis attended North Dakota State College of Science for autobody repair.
He married Joy Evon Justesen in 1960, and they welcomed two sons, Scott and Tim, while living and working around the Minneapolis, Minnesota area. Dennis moved his family to Gillette, Wyoming, in 1979, where he was an entrepreneur, starting and operating Carson Body Shop for over 40 years.
Dennis was a skilled craftsman with an intense work ethic, from building their home to restoring old vehicles to perfection. Dennis loved the Bighorn Mountains and spent the majority of his free time snowmobiling, camping, riding dirt bikes, and showing his only grandchild, Sydney, the beauties of God’s creations. He also obtained his pilots license at a young age and enjoyed flying small aircraft. Dennis will be remembered for his love of conversation and laughter, and his dedication to his work and customers, who became lifelong friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joy; sons, Scott (Emily), Tim; Grandchild, Sydney; brother Lyndon (Dottie); sisters, Janice (Jim), DeeAnn (Ray), Karen (Dennis), Karol, Cheryl (Don); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
