Kindergarten Registration Up This Year

Last week, 594 kids were registered to attend kindergarten in Campbell County for the fall 2019 session.
Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction Kirby Eisenhauer said at first he was worried the frigid temperature and even colder wind chill would prevent parents from getting out and registering their children.
Eisenhauer said last year 572 kids signed up during the first week of registration. However, on the first day of school there were 693 kindergartners.
Next, each child registered will go through a screening process, which will determine whether they’re best suited for kindergarten or pre-K. Screenings will be scheduled in advance and will be held at each child’s home school.
Two years ago, only 408 kindergartners registered in February.
