A memorial service for Ann Herman will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Family Life Church in Gillette, Wyoming, with Pastor Burry Bessee officiating.
Ann Herman, 77, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2019, at Close to Home Hospice in Gillette, Wyoming.
Ann Marie Garrison was born to Wayne and Arlene Garrison, Aug. 23, 1941. She lived 10 miles northwest of Wall, South Dakota, and attended country school. The farm overlooked the Cheyenne River breaks.
Ann graduated from Wall High School in May of 1959. She entered St. John McNamara School of Nursing and graduated as a RN in 1966. She married Wallace L. Swartz of Spearfish, South Dakota, in 1962. Two children came from that union, Jo Ellen and Gregory.
In 1989, Ann married Garey Herman, owner of Tricon Construction, in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1992 she and Garey established Herman’s Furniture Restoration and Antiques. Ann was a professional nurse (RN) for 42 years and she worked as a nurse in several communities. Ann served on staff at Lookout Memorial Hospital and Dorsett Home, both in Spearfish, South Dakota, Pioneer Manor and Beehive Home, both in Gillette, Lawrence County Home Health and the VA hospital in Sturgis, South Dakota, and also at the Campbell County Detention Center.
One of her greatest joys and accomplishments was helping to bring hospice care to Gillette. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Arlene Garrison; and brother, Dennis.
Ann leaves behind her husband, Garey; children, Rev. Jo Flesner and Dr. Greg Swartz; and five grandchildren. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made in Ann’s name to benefit First United Methodist Church, 2000 West Lakeway Road, Gillette, Wyoming, 82718.
