A memorial service for Loren Hodges will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Gillette Memorial Chapel.
Loren Hodges, 55, passed away Dec. 28, 2018, at Rapid City Regional Hospital of a heart related incident.
Loren Lee Hodges was born July 22, 1963, in Watertown, South Dakota to Lois (Heyn) and Rodger Hodges. He grew up in Presho, South Dakota and graduated from Lyman County High School in 1981. During high school, Loren worked at the Sale barn in Presho, South Dakota. After graduating, he went on to earn his associate degree in Agriculture from Mitchell Vo-Tech College.
Loren moved to Gillette in 1983 and worked for Winnelson. In his later years, he worked for Anadarko and at North Antelope Rochelle Mine at the time of his death. Loren had many hobbies including being a devoted hunter and avid fisherman. He also enjoyed sketching and drawing wilderness scenes. He was talented in making his own long bow and arrows and also participated in many archery tournaments. In his younger years, Loren rode a bull or two, for fun. What he loved most of all was watching his children play sports. Loren was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was also a Thunder Bolt High School Fan.
Loren is survived by his children, Geoffry (Sarah) Hodges; Lathem Hodges; Easton Hodges; Santana (Kelly) Bumpus; and McKenna Hodges all of Gillette, Wyoming; sisters, Pam Hodges-Altenberg of Gillette, Wyoming and Cindy Erickson of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Rodger Hodges; and uncle, Bud Hodges.
