Pet of the Week: Zena
Say hello to Zena, this week’s Red Hills Pet of the Week.
Like many of the dogs at Rest Easy my Friend Canine Rescue and Sanctuary, Zena is a mixed breed, most likely “chuggle,” an adorable mix of chihuahua, pug, and beagle lineage. She’s 7-years-old, spayed, up-to-date on shots, weighs approximately 20 pounds, and is perfectly content being close to her human companion. You could say she’s a people dog.
“She’s is a real sweetheart,” said rescue owner Carolyn Sears. “She loves to snuggle under the blankets and wants to be near her human all the time.”
Zena was recently surrendered by her owners, who thought she needed a more subdued home than they could offer.
Being the new girl at the rescue, she hasn’t started playing with the rest of the dogs, yet. But Carolyn said she’s incredible patient. She gets along with cats, and is OK with dogs. She’s a little grumpy and growly at first, but warms up to them with time. Although Zena has not been exposed to children at the rescue, her former owners reported she was good with kids.
Zena is completely housebroken and would make the perfect companion animal with her patient, loving personality.
